What is Nearly Zero Energy Building anyway?

Nearly Zero Energy Building (NZEB) is the building standard which will be mandatory for non residential buildings by 2018, by EU Directive. PassivHaus is the most effective way to achieve this legislative standard for most buildings. See our blog post on NZEB here.

The practice is one of Ireland’s only architects to have designed and completed both residential and commercial PassivHaus Certified buildings.

We get it!

You are a socially responsible company who takes your ethical standards seriously in everything you do, but when your clients look at where you work, they see twentieth century air conditioning, poorly constructed fabric and it just doesn’t tally with your corporate image. You have high rates of absenteeism, because your staff are constantly getting colds and headaches or just don’t feel like coming to work.

What can we do for you?

Imagine a building that worked for you, was constantly comfortable with superior levels of natural light. It is cheap to heat and cool, it might even be energy positive. It has constantly filtered fresh air, but not air-conditioned because the building doesn’t over heat. The structure cools itself naturally.

Your staff are more productive, because their environment is optimal. Your clients and customers can see that you are indeed a socially responsible company which takes your environmental impact seriously, not because you have to, but because you want to.

We can make that aspiration a reality.

TESTIMONIALS

‘Paul is professional, pleasant, and precise. His design work is creative, he delivers when and what he promises and he pays attention to detail throughout. I would recommend him to anyone as an architect.’
Rónán Kennedy, Housing Client
“I found Paul to be a good listener and take any suggestions you may have on board. He is always available when needed. I was very happy with him as my architect as he carries out his work very professionally. I would not hesitate to employ him again in the future. I would be very happy to recommend him to others.”
Seamus Curran, Ballincollig Energy Upgrade
“Just a quick note to say thanks for the alterations report you forwarded to us. We found the report to be a very useful starting point for us. The report provided a detailed breakdown of estimated costs, so we are able to see what work is feasible within our particular budget. It also provides a suggestion for our property that we would never have considered.”
Karen O’Mullane, Feasibility Study client
“Paul designed and managed the complete renovation of our home. In addition to the architectural design, we were impressed with his knowledge of energy efficient design and his management of the project, particularly when unexpected problems (rotten joists etc.) arose.”
John O'Brien, Renovation/Alterations client
